Question 86 s-10 fuel guage problems

my 86 2.5L/manual trans. s-10 fuel guage was reading about 3/4 full when i had just filled the tank and 1/4 full when the tank was empty, the other day i hit a bump in the road and it stopped working all toghether and i cant find any info. what could it be. any help is much appreciated

Sounds like a mechanical problem with the sender, like a binding float. Electrical problems are usualy on or off, not a misread. Fixing it requires dropping the fuek tank, not an easy job. Do a search on this and the Bravada forum, I've seen some good "how to posts" with some shortcuts. here's the Chilton R&R procedure:

thnx for the help, what would be easier, dropping the tank or removing the bed, the bed sounds easier but i could be wrong, is there more to the bed than the taillight wire harness. thanx again
