Exhaust Manifold Leaking

My exhaust manifold is leaking on my 02 LTZ. I won't know until I pull the heat shield off. It is either the gasket or the manifold could be cracked. Are either of these common of Trailblazers? Hoping it is just a gasket.

Re: Exhaust Manifold Leaking

I have heard of broken/loose mounting studs and cracked manifolds. Hopfully it's a stud and not the manifold itself!

Re: Exhaust Manifold Leaking

I hope it's a stud too. I will dig in this weekend.
It is sounding worse than an old Ford pickup and progressivly getting worse.

Re: Exhaust Manifold Leaking

If the manifold is cracked, try to source a good used one first. A member on another board just paid a GM service dept ~$1500 for a new exhaust manifold r/r for his out of warranty 2003. His was cracked.

Re: Exhaust Manifold Leaking

FYI for all ,the exh manifolds are covered on the emissions warranty for 7/70 or 8/80 depending on Calif. or not.

Re: Exhaust Manifold Leaking

Max is that right? I just looked over my 2005 manual, and it's as follows:

Per my 2005 model year warranty book:

7/70, California Emission Control System Waranty coverage as it applies to a trailblazer:

1. Camshaft Position Actuator Assembly
2. Fuel Rail Assembly
3. Intake Manifold
4. Throttle body
5. Distributer??
6. Fuel limiter vent valve?
7. Fuel Tank

8/80, Federal Emissions Control System Warranty coverage as it applies to a TB:

1. ECM
2. PCM
3. Vehicle Control Module (VCM)?
4. TCM
5. Catalytic converter

There are other 'cryptic' items listed, but they apply to duramax, flex-fuel, northstar, supercharged, turbocharged or hybrid vehicles.
