Storage shelves on TV show

If you get the DIY Network, there is a show called Freeform Furniture where the host shows you how to make various creative furniture pieces like bookshelves, headboards, magazine racks, etc. It's cool because we all know the basics, but she shows some really cool materials and finishing techniques that most people probably wouldn't think of.

The current episode is a CD rack that would work well for a model display:

It will be replayed several times over the next week or so, and there are also instructions on the website.

Re: Storage shelves on TV show

Looks pretty cool, but the annoying thing about these shows is that they put together some interesting stuff but very few people have access to the equipment as used in the program. Looks like she's in machine tool heaven there!

Re: Storage shelves on TV show

Yes, that is true (Especially on The New Yankee Workshop), but you can do most of this stuff with basic woodworking tools as well, and she does tell people that they can find local shops to do welding, machining, etc for a small fee. I think she uses the specialty stuff, like a vacuum press or strip-heaters for plastic, to give people ideas on what they can do, more so than how to use them.
