Keyless Entry 97 Cavalier help?

Does anyone know if the keyless entry goes through the stock cd player? And what i need to do to make it work with a aftermarket one?

Re: Keyless Entry 97 Cavalier help?

no, it does not. it goes through a box that should be located under the carpet in the trunk above the left wheel well. the factory radio controls nothing in the car but the radio up until 2000

Re: Keyless Entry 97 Cavalier help?

yeah, and you know how those instructions say to ground the wires in the trunk????.....well i did not know that was what that was for so i hooked up a button to it and wired it to my dash so i would have a trunk release in the cabin without turnin the car off.....but when i push it the doors lock unlock then pop the trunk, so i guess that is not a good thing to use for opening the trunk, oooopps my bad.

but look at it this way.....when ever i need to program a remote i have a button i can just push(along with everyone else who sits in my car and has a remote) lol, like i will ever need to program a remote

Re: Keyless Entry 97 Cavalier help?

ok so will those instructions work for what i need to do? So the only reason why the remote stopped working was because i disconnected the battery and removed the stock cy player?

Re: Keyless Entry 97 Cavalier help?

Being that you have a 1999 I wouldn't think that it would be run through there. But if it is I believe that there is a module that you can buy to make all the other stuff still work while using a aftermarket stereo.

Jstump: I told you how to just make the trunk release work from the one switch. I dont know that your remote would still work. I assume it would if you connected both wires to the motor on the trunk lid. If you need help or pics just let me know
