EGR Location??

I have an 02 Avalanche 5.3 liter Z-71. Does anybody know the location of the EGR valve? I looked all over my engine and can not find it. I know what EGR valves look like; I have replaced them on my former cars before. I just got to looking the other day on my truck and could not find it. If anybody knows where it is and could tell me or post a picture, I would surely appreciate it. Thanks!

Re: EGR Location??

Sorry to be a pain, but can anybody be more specific? My oil fill tube is near the front of my engine, and there is no EGR valve in sight. I'm pretty decent about locating parts (usually), but I don't see the EGR anywhere. My friend has a Siverado and his EGR is right next to his oil fill tube. He has the 5.3l V8 also, but my Avalanche is a little different.

Anybody have a picture?

Thanks,

Re: EGR Location??

I made a mistake it is near the oil fill tube in front of the engine. It doesn't look like the old egr valve it is black about 2inch diameter with an electrical connection no vacuum hose. Stand on the passenger side it is only about 6 inches away about the same height towards the drivers side mounted a tube. This is on my 5.3L Silverado 2000.

This is correct for a Siverado, but not an Avalanche. Not sure why this is, I thought they both had the exact same motor.

Maybe the Avalanche does not have an EGR? I thought it was a mandatory emmissions thing, but my Avalanche was made in Mexico and sold originally in Canada, so who knows? Maybe I don't have one. If I do have one, it is nowhere near the oil fill tube.

Thanks for the reply!

Re: EGR Location??

Go to the stealership and give them your vin #, have them look up the egr valve and they will beable to tell you if it has one or not and where it is located.
