Cool water leak in trunk

My '00 Neon has water leaking into the trunk and the rear floor boards. It has never been wrecked and I cannot find any obvious place where water is getting in. At highway speeds you can hear more noticable road noise from the passenger side. Any ideas or similar experiences would be helpful.

Re: water leak in trunk

sounds like you need to replace your weather stripping.

Re: water leak in trunk

This may be a little late, but I've had the same problem with my 2002 neon...the water runs down the grooves in the trunk and was coming into the holes in the tailights. I tried to silicone everything that I could find, which helped, every now and then when it pours I'll get a little water in the trunk. I'd definitely look into the weatherstripping, but I don't know how much good it'll do considering mine is fine. Alright hope this helps.

Re: water leak in trunk

I haven't had this problem myself but I have read that it is sometimes caused by a leaking taillight. Removing the taillight and applying a bead of silicon caulk might help.
