Problem with stalling with a 94 Trans Sport SE Van
My 94 keeps stalling, the rad fan was not coming on, and it was overheating, shutting down all the fuel. I replaced the thermostate , and jumpered out the fan relay to get the fan to run constantly, with the ignition turned on.There is one fuse which is dead on both sides but is not burned out labeled LPS 3545C 3.........If the van sits for a couple of hours, it will start up again, run any where from 10-40 minutes, then stall . Then it will not start again for a couple of hours.......When running it will drive smooth, idle smooth........My friend has a GM code reader and book, the computer showed a code 33 and code 45, which are both voltage problems with the mass air flow sensor.....The codes were checked a few hours away from where I live, and the van drove home no problem.. Has anyone had simalar problems? Or does anyone one know what to do? I really need some help with this!!

Does it still over heat with the fan relay jumpered and operating?

Sorry to take so long to get back to you Knuckle Ears.... But I've been busy road testing and it was running good, but, is starting to have problems with stalling again. Changed coolant temp sensor, and the thermastat, as well as coil, but seem to have a problem with the injectors on the throttle body shutting off. Still, if I leave it for a couple of hours or so, it will start up and sometimes run for and extended period of time and other times shut down. I'm not entirely convinced that the motor is overheating any longer, since the intake and T.B.I. seem cool to the touch when it stalls. I disconnected the fuel line from the fuel filter and turned the key on to see if the fuel pump was pumping, and plenty of fuel sprayed out. When I reconnect the line, and cranked the motor over, the injectors are not spraying fuel into the throttle body. Any suggestions or ideas of what could be causing this?
Thanks!! |

Re: Problem with stalling with a 94 Trans Sport SE Van
I had a problem with the voltage on the MAF sensor...first of all ..take a dc voltage meter and disconnet the maf sensor connector with the ignition in the 'on' position check your voltage, you should have 12 volts on one pin and 5 on the other and also check your ground by touching the cylinder head or negative of the battery...and the third pin on the maf sensor.
Next follow the pink voltage wire from the maf to the left (passenger side) wheel well where all the wires go to a wire collector remove the centre nut and release it and check the continuity of the maf sensor pink wire between there and the maf connector while playing around with the wire..do the same for the other wires too....I found the pink wire cut inside the insulation ..it took me about 1000 dollars and 6 mechanics to end up with somehting so minor... There is always flex near the wheel well on those wires...so some of them get cut.. |
