88 t-bird engine in a 94 t-bird

I am wanting to know if it is possible to drop a 1988 t-bird 5.0L engine into a 1994 t-bird that had a 3.8L engine in it and if there is any modifications that need to be done. Any help would be great.Thanks.

You'll have to convert it to mass airflow, get an airbox/intake, computer, wiring harness, flexplate, torque convertor, even then I'm not 100% sure the bellhousing will bolt up, and if it does the V6 tranny might not hold up to the extra torque you're putting to it. You'll need mounts, manifolds and a radiator/shroud from an earlier MN12, as I don't think the fox body stuff will fit. I believe 94 was the first year for the 4.6 in the Tbird, so 89-93 stuff should work. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

All in all, it's probably not worth it. Sell the V6 car and buy a V8.

Ye You are right 94 was the first year for the 4.6 in the tbird and it really isnt worth it i got a 88 tbird and that year only came with 150 horsepower with the v8 with like 265 or 275 ft lbs of torque

I agree its not worth the swap. BUT..... you dont have to convert it over to a MAF setup and everything. If you are in a smog state then it wont be legal anyways so if you really want to do it you can go the easy way and run a carb 302.
