Exclamation 1999 2.0 bogging on acceleration

I have a 1999 jetta 5 speed with 137K on it. it had new wires plugs and throttle body installed last summer. All of a sudden the car has a hesitation. when it is first started it will stall if you give it gas until it reaches operating temp. it will then idle fine and you can drive it but it hesitates. it acts like you are in third gear when you are in first. it bucks and bogs down. I have to let off the gas and it catches up and will go. once going if you put it to the floor will will rev to only about 4 grand and just hangs there like it has a rev limiter. this happens in every gear. Check engine light has codes for mis fire bank 1, 2,3 . any help or ideas would be apperciated. Thanks in advanced.

Re: 1999 2.0 bogging on acceleration

I finally had time. I sprayed water on the coil and on the boots at the plugs. No arcing and engine did not skip or anything. Any other things to try? I cleared the codes and am going to drive it again to see if anything new comes in.

Re: 1999 2.0 bogging on acceleration

I have to order the MAF. I unplugged it and the car died instantly. I disconnected the hose from the throttle body and it died instantly also. What does the MAF do? Thank you for all your help it is greatly appreciated. Is there any way to clean it? It does not look like that little part can cause all these problems.

The maf sensor reads all imcoming air going into the engine. If its not reading properly it will tell the ecm the wrong thing and the ecm will not adjust fuel trim accordingly.
