Re: rear wheel shudder

what you have is a rear end with a limited slip differential. it is not an open diff and it is not a complete detroit locker setup. basically, when your on the gas it locks the rear two wheels so that they spin together. when your not on the gas a lot, they spin as an open diff. allowing you to take a turn or whatever. the problem is when it's locked, they want to spin the exactly the same. however, uneven tire pressure or turning slightly or whatever forces the wheel to skip on the pavement breaking traction and causeing the wheel to hop. hope this cleared it up.

Re: rear wheel shudder

i do have two different brands in the back but the same size and the air pressure in them. so what your saying is that if one tire is a little bigger it will screw the rear end up and make one wheel skip, like putting two different size tires on a four wheel drive.

Re: rear wheel shudder

Did you check the rear wheel bearings do they make any noise. The have an additive you could try for these rear ends. Check your universal joints for wear. Look at your motor and transmission mounts. Put the truck on jack stands and have somebody run slowly in gear watch for any unusual noise.
