type of car to mod out?

hey,
I'm looking for a car to buy and mod out to have some fun with. I want a car thats (stock) fast and has a lot of afterstock parts for it. Manuel transmission and preferably relativly cheap. I'm stuck and dont know where to look...any help would be appreciated!

Cheep relative to what? Are we talking ~$5,000? $10,000? $15,000? Specific price range is hugely important.

87-93 Mustang. Fits everything you want, cheap, manual, and LOTS of parts for them.
