Pug MK2 106 XN 3 door locks

I have a MK2 106 XN 3 door and am looking to buy a central locking kit/remote alarm kit. I have contacted the supplier of these kits and they have said that the alarm kit will work but the question as to weather the remote central locking kit will work depends upon the motion of the door locks when locking/unlocking.

My question is do the locks on my car lock in an up/down way or a side to side way?

I know this may sound daft as the doors have pull up/push down levers to lock/unlock from inside the car but I didn't know if the actual lock worked differently.
