msn messenger

does anyone here use hotmail and/or msn messenger? I use both, but today something really inconvienient happened.

i usually have my messenger running all the time. when i get an email to my hotmail, it shows up on that messenger, and a little email indicator says (1), and a message pops up in the lower right hand corner of the screen and tells me i have an email. I click that popup, and it takes me straight to the email.

well today i got an email, and an email alert pops up from the messenger. i click the alert, and then it says i have to sign in first, which is very weird, as it is usually always signed in. anyways i sign in with the correct password, and get to the email. ok thats fine..

i get another email later. i get directed to the same login screen, very weird again, because i have "remember me" selected from the last time. well i put my password in, nothing has been changed at all in the last year or so, and it says i have the wrong password. WHAAATTT?!?!?

so i was wondering if there was anyone else with a problem with msn or if its just mine.

Sounds like maybe you got hit with a keylogger scam and your shit got jacked.

Sounds that way to me.... better check on your PayPal, eBay, etc accounts.

There is a feature in MSN Messenger where you can tell it not to ask you your password when checking your mail inside of it. Look under the options and change it, and see if it will let you in. Then simply just change the password once your in Hotmail. Hopefully you haven't already been jacked of every possible piece of information pertaining to accounts, etc.

ok, well i think i may have found the problem. i think i somehow got a hold of a baaad keylogger/trojan. I dont have any antivirus software so i just downloaded a 90 day free trial of norton antivirus. if you dont have any virus protection i HIGHLY recommend getting some. so anyways...

I downloaded the program and did a system scan. it seems i had a super stealthy ULTRA HIGH RISK, norton started flipping out when it came across this bad boy that had copied itself 14 times! its called W32.Jeefo. i dunno where i got it from, probably from a movie i tried to download last night. id recommend scanning your computer asap, and also checking google for W32.Jeefo virus protection to get new updates, or whatever it takes.

I was trying to figure out what the answer to my secret question was for my password on msn, and the question was "who is my favorite person from history?". After thnking about this all day, i came to this conclusion: I didnt choose that as my secret question!! I specifically remember having it ask what my dog's name was. so someone definitely messed with it. i hope you guys dont have to go through this crap. boy am i glad i dont have an ebay account or anything TOO important. just email and msn, but still inconvienient.

Usually when you try download movies, they inject a trojan into them. My antivirus spazzes all the time when I'm downloading a movie.

Thats why I dont download movies.

I recommend you install Spybot and Ad-aware and do a scan also, it picks up things most antivirus won't.

i just tried to sign in again to my email and the messenger, and they both worked!! very weird. no problems at all. i wonder if one of those w32 virus was somehow blocking me from getting on. or maybe msn was just messed up. oh well, it works now.

ad-aware is good, but it doesn't catch everything. when I switched from norton to kaspersky antivirus, it picked up about 14 new items that neither norton or ad-aware noticed.
