1994 gmc crate engine question

So i got screwed over by the junkyard on a used engine they found and now i am in search of doing my orginal idea and find a nice "NEW" crate engine. So i was wondering if anyone would know of a good place to find a crate engine at a decent price. I have checked jegs, summit, gmpartsdirect but there prices are all about the same and i know there has to be some of those off the market dealers out there that are cheaper and just as realiable. SO pretty much i want to find somthing for a resonable price that is ready to run otherwise any alternatives to my issue. The engine i would like to get is a 350 5.7L v8 which was originally in the truck befor ...

Thanks and hopfully someone can help me out

well, if you want a new one you'll have to face the prices and go with the places you listed, if you want to find it cheaper you'll most likely have to go with used stuff.

you'll have to check various classified, or go around junkyard looking in cars/trucks that came with a small block.

Re: 1994 gmc crate engine question

Are you still looking for an engine? I have a 350 out of my '91 extended cab Sierra that has a little over 100,xxx miles on it. I bought a rebuilt engine when this one started dumping oil out of the exhaust. When I pulled the engine, I found that the driver side intake gasket was screwed up and dumping oil into the intake. The motor ran great and had great power.
I know this isn't a new engine like you are looking for, but it is a cheap alternative. I only want $100.00 for my engine.
Just a thought.

Re: 1994 gmc crate engine question

I was in search of one myself for my '93 Sierra and I looked at all the big name places and was very discouraged. Then I came across this Chevy dealer in the northern U.S. and was shocked at their prices and inventory. They had a replacement long block 350 purely stock and is made my Chevy themselves, and I believe it listed on their website for around $1500-1700 bucks, a very good deal for a long block. Anyways, heres their site:

Good luck,
