RX-8 VS CX-7 : Family Fued

Well as many of you know the new CX-7 shares the same motor and power as the mazdaspeed 3's and 6's only they are a bit heavier due to the fat they are an SUV. None the less they are pretty quick and If I ever had to have an SUV that would be the one I would buy. Anyways....

I'm driving with my fiance on thursday night, after leaving walmart, and I stop at a red light in between of a CX-7 and a 2.5 altima. They were obviously buddies since the guys in the CX were chatting with them. I guess my car stopped thier conversation. The light goes gree and me and the CX launch, I guess in a battle to see who got more for their money. It was an exilerating race as I won by about a car and a half I shut down as I reached 100 in by 4th cause I figured there was no longer a point to continue racing since I continued to put more distance.

at the next light him and his buddy look at me and say " guess yours is faster"
I laugh and reply "yeah but I'm sure yours is more comfortable for the long rides."
He laughs as well and says "wanna trade?"
"no thanks, I think I'll keep mine" we wave and drive off.

When it comes to the 2 mazdaspeeds and the CX-7 it goes like this

CX-7 < MS6 < MS3

my car falls in like this

CX-7 < MS6 < RX-8 < or = MS3 (we dont know yet but by the way it looks it would most likely be faster)

I dont care what the mags say, I drove a MS6 and it slacks when you get to 5krpm there is no high end power and the rx is definately faster. The MS6 is a dissapointment which is why they dont sell.

Re: RX-8 VS CX-7 : Family Fued

I looked at that CX-7 with my g/f not to long ago and for the money I dont think it can be beat..I wonder how it would do against that new RAV-4 with that 268 hp motor. Comfortable on long rides or not it would get massacred in the curves by an RX-8...nice run

I like the look of the CX-7 but I wouldnt buy one. If I ever had to buy and SUV it'd be the Ralliart Endevor. Sexxy fucking ride!

Nice run and very cool that they where friendly towards you ma man.

Re: RX-8 VS CX-7 : Family Fued

I saw one not too long ago, but it was during rush hour traffic during the day so nothing happened.

the thing that had me was that it still had paper plates but it was already covered with dirt, I was like you just bought it and it already dirty, but at least there were putting it to use.

yea, im glad they were puttin it to use. gotian just keeps the races startin to come on to him lately. apparently as racing season for most of us ends, his is starting to 'kick in' if you want to say that. btw, how many miles are on the rx-8 now, as im not too sure if your redlining it to 9k yet.

Redlining to 9k once a day was part of the break in period for the first 2k miles. If you dont push the engine in this car then it breaks down on you since it will be starved for oil in the engine. And right now I'm on 4k miles so I'm way passed the break in period and my 2nd oil change will be at 5k

You've got enough vehicles as it is. Stay away from dealerships.

Good kill Gotian. That's about the only minivan i'd consider worth racing (Then again the Rav 4 V6 is quick too).

I think you would love the MS3, it's got the equivellent power of the SRT-4 with handling that rivals the GTI. My fiance says that she wants one and I told her that only if I am allowed to drive it at autocrosses every now and then can she have one. But that wouldnt be for another year or so cause I want them to work out any kinks left in the car and plus we need to pay a few things first and move in together.

Re: RX-8 VS CX-7 : Family Fued

What kinks? that engine has been around forever! Its exactly like you said, they drop it into so many mazdas. Why do you think all the new Dodge cars with Hemi's dont have issues or the new Nissans with VQ35DEs.
Its cause the engine is the same and the tunning is adjusted.
Plus they use the same chassis as the regular Mazda 3 so even that wont be a problem.
those are gonna be cool little cars and finally a car that SRT-4 drivers can switch to thats no suiccidal!

btw has Drifty crashed his car yet? him and 209 are due.
