I was told that the o2 sensors can be cleaned what method is used to clean them.

Use a non-residual spray cleaner like electronic parts cleaner. Using carb cleaner spray or others can leave a film and render the sensor ineffective.

I use throttle body cleaner (spray type) with no problems. 99% of the throttle body and carb cleaners on the market will not harm or degrade 02 sensors or CAT convertors. Important thing is to make sure no carbon deposits are blocking the directional vanes to the sensor element. After cleaning hold the 02 sensor up to a light source and make sure you see no blockage.
