2.4 tc misfiring

I have a 96 twin cam 2.4 liter, it started misfiring so I replaced the sparkplugs but it still is misfireing. I'm looking for suggestions before I just start throwing parts into this.

What kind of plugs did you feed it.
Does a scanner show what cylinder is missing?
Are the coils and ign cover good shape?

Re: 2.4 tc misfiring

Engine code did not specifically state which cyl. was misfiring just that it detected misfires.

If you ae using autolite plugs.
First thing to do is.
Pitch the autolite plugs in the trash can and get the AC Delco plugs that the good book calls for.

If you can feel a engine miss on it.
Check coil output spark to plugs and check the plastic coil cover for shorting across.
Look at it for carbon tracking or a burnt spot.
The coils and cover is a weak spot on them.
To test coil output I get a long set of plug wires and flip the cover over and check spark output from each coil tower.
Let us know how it goes.
