Tamiya TS spray cans

Are the Tamiya TS spray cans as good as airbrushing?

Yes they are. Although they spray even better airbrushed! LOL

Re: Tamiya TS spray cans

With a proper workflow (several mist coats, followed by a couple of wet coats and some sanding/polishing) they are indistinguishable.
I agree with Chris: decanted to an airbrush jar you'll get the best of both worlds

Cheers!

Re: Tamiya TS spray cans

Yeah I read about that in scale auto mag.
Thanks because my airbrush requires too much
work to set up, as if I don't already have no
time to model!

Thanks again, I'll be getting some soon then I guess!

Re: Tamiya TS spray cans

Like Lusitano mentioned. You can get great results out of the can. Just do some nice wetsanding and take your time. This Evo was done using those methods and the paint turned out super smooth and you cannot even tell it came from the can(Tamiya TS-14):

Re: Tamiya TS spray cans

I personally prefer cans! I tried both cans and airbrush.. Started out with cans then switch to airbrush BUT didnt really like the result so i changed back... all my builds since the start of this year was done by cans Althought the money i spent on cans could get me a really expensive airbrush BUT it gives me better results , so its worth it!

Re: Tamiya TS spray cans

With practice you can get a killer shine from spray cans. Only disadvantage is on custom colors.

Re: Tamiya TS spray cans

I've only ever used cans. Dupli-color paints, in particular, spray incredibly smoothly and dry pretty darn quick. I still intend to get an airbrush, but will likely only use it for custom jobs, fades and flames, that sort of thing.
