92 5.0HO T-Bird bad bearing?

I have aquired (about to) a 92 thunderbird with the 5.0HO engine, the owner (80 yr old man) says he was driving one day and it just died, tried to start it back up and it wudnt start, a 'mechanic' looked at it and said the bearing was bad, didn't specify which bearing. So I'm here to ask how often the 5.0s throw bearing. I'm thinking its not too common and it has a different issue. I got a gut feeling its an electrical problem. Any help is greatly appreciated. oh btw the car is mint, the price is only $500.

btw if the crankshaft bearing is bad, how hard would it be to replace? Is the car worth getting? Or should i just look for a different engine for it?
