dead

ok i thought possibly a fuse was my problem but i highly doubt that now. i went out to take another look at my truck and nothing electrical at all worked. tried to start the truck and nothing..not even a sputter. i plugged a power box up to it to boost it and it tried to start in very slow and long sputters. when it finally started the battery would not charge at all. as soon as i unhooked the power box it dies instantly. if anyone has any idea please let me know.

Yes, check your battery terminals for corrosion. Clean them anyway. Many large auto repair centers will check both battery and alernator for free. Take them in and get them checked.

If all checks are okay then have a mechanic check for codes. This will tell you where to start.

Re: dead

check the alternator and battery , u may need to buy a new battery since that battery was drained , depending on the age of the battery. may also have to replace the battery cables if badly corroded

Re: dead

Low voltage syndrome. All of the above are OK. I'd think the alternator is shot, specially since you said it could not charge...Most probably, the car ran on the battery for a while and then when voltage got so low it could not self sustain, you have got all the bells and whistles.
Either the diode pack of the regulator: I had both in two separate occurrences. PRice of each: $30. YOu need a powerful soldering gun to unsolder the windings from the diode pack...and replace with a Bosch diode pack, not an original GM POS....or go for another complete alternator if you wish.
Separately, charge the battery with a battery charger to test it. ONce charged and left at rest, it should measure 12.6 volt...if it reads like 10, you have a shorted cell....but I'd favor the alternator as the culprit.
