mitsubishi eclipse stock radio center display

Mine has COMPLETEY shut off. What sucks even more is that last night, I'm guessing like my battery cable got loose or did something because when I tried to turn on my car this morning it didn't work so I went to pop open the hood I just barely touched the battery cable and it crackled and my car's indoor lights turned on and I heard the beeping of when the door is open. So I go and turn on my car and it started like regular but the center display is now off and blank AND I'm guessing now I have to input the code (I know the code) but I have no way of seeing what I'm inputing or whether it says OFF or CODE. But I know I have to input the code because I can hear that tiny popping noise like when you press it on or off. I just dont know which is which since the damn display unit isn't working. Any ideas anyone? Please help. Thanks.

Hell Yeah! Pegasus had the same problem once and i managed to fix it. Unfortunately for you I don't remember how I did it. Maybe you should call a dealer and talk to the mechanic guy there. I bet he knows the answer. Don't worry and think your radio is broken cuz it aint. Hey, maybe one day you will look back and laugh at this, I'm all ready laughing.

yeah I called them the day it happened and they verified I had the right code and they said that I need a new display for some reason. WHich cost like $300 without the installation stuff. I might as well buy a $150 new radio installed and not worry about the display at all. It doesn't bother me if I dont know the time. Thats what watches are for. =)

Re: mitsubishi eclipse stock radio center display

bump. I decided to not get a new radio. All because they told me since I had an infinity system, I would have to rewire the amp. They are charging me 70 bucks for that and they also told me that since the speakers are only 2 ohms, as soon as I turn the radio up loud, the radio would go out. Although I wasn't paying much attention because I was way tired from a lack of sleep the night before, I think thats what I got from it. So either way, I would rather fix it myself. I have done some research and it seems many people say that its a disconnected wire somewhere or something got disconnected. I have checked ALL fuses and all seem to be fine, other than the cigarette lighter one but it doesnt matter because I have no reason to use it. anyways, so if anyone could help me out with anything, I would love it. Is there like a wiring diagram somewhere or that anyone could show me that shows like what connects to what and what powers what. Just anything to help me out. I dont feel like shelling out 200+ for this. Any information would rule. Thanks guys.

Re: mitsubishi eclipse stock radio center display

UM, as for the part where the guy said you had 2 ohm speakers...that would be a good thing. I ran stock mids and tweets for a while after I put my aftermarket head unit in, and just ran a sub and it worked fine. I blasted all the time and never had a problem (other than the fact that the factory speakers were weak and were still running through the stock amp and were way underpowered). As for having someone install an amp for you...I dont know why you wouldnt just do it yourself. If you dont mind running some wires, its a piece of cake (just a little time consuming even for people that do it all the time). Factory speakers should be 4ohm (I am pretty sure). You should still be able to use the factory amp because I did. The cig lighter might in some way be connected to your clock pod (I know the high beams and the turn signals/brake lights are hooked togeather somehow). All I'm tryin to say is that guy was full of it and you can do whatever the hell you want and have little or no problems.

I'm almost positive I read somewhere that the cig lighter fuse control's the clock pod too.

Re: mitsubishi eclipse stock radio center display

random fuses are connected to various things that you wouldn't think, but for some odd reason everything is almost integrated with everything else.

glad you found the fix.
