Under-hood reeling trouble light years

Hey, I was wanting to know what years the quite neat feature of the reeling trouble light came on. I want to pick up one or more, and I want to know what I am looking for at the junk yards!

My 96 GMC Sierra Ext cab Z-71 5.7L has it and I love it. Very handy.

My fathers 1952 pontiac also had this from the factory. It would reach to the rear wheels.
