Recently, installed alternator and new spark plugs in a 90 Buick Regal Limited with 3.1 engine. The problem is now I see smoke and smell burning oil. Does anyone have a clue of what could possibly be wrong?

Check the valve cover gaskets. If you see smoke and smell the oil burning the oil is getting on the exhaust manifolds and burning. Common issue but not hard to change.
