Getting to those tie rods..
So the other day I go to change my tie rods, but when I tried to take off the wheels I found that one of the lugs is one of those special locking ones, so a regular socket wont fit over it..I'm wondering if this is something normal out of the factory or if it's an aftermarket thing, because I bought the car used and the fact that it had the special lug nuts was never mentioned..Even if it is something I could get from pontiac I figured I'd save some money and just use one of those gator grip sockets on it but the one I have is too small so I think i might just look for a larger one..

Check your glovebox for a special lug key.
If there isn't something there...contact previous owner if possible. If that is out of the question...see if you can find a tire shop that might be able to remove those lugs for you. Take a bill of sale/title if you can. Replace locks with new ones you have a special but for, or put basic lugnuts on.

The lugkey could be in the center console, glove box, or even in the back with the spare tire and jack... I've seen them be in all those places. When I bought my Firebird I found mine under the passenger seat. lol

Any tire shop can knock them off for you. Theyll charge a bit more, but they all have either air chizels or special sockets that will get them off.

Check the car over good for the key, its the easiest solution. If you don't have the key try taking it to a dealer to see if they are factory locking lugnuts, if they are not you can remove them yourself by pounding an impact socket on the locking lug nuts and removing them, you might need one or two sockets as they tend to split, but still cheaper then taking it somewhere and less chance of damaging the rims with a air chizel! Not to meantion most tire shops hate to deal with them, so if they have to take them off they will probably charge you quite a bit to take them off.

Well like I said before there were no keys, theres not that many places to hide em' in the car, I just wanted to know if it was a stock thing or aftermarket..anyway I already brought it into school and we forced it off by hammering a 3/4 impact socket on each of them and getting them off, thanks anyway..
