Picking up a 2000 GTP

I've found a 2000 GTP for sale at a local car lot for $5450, 4 door, moon roof, power doors, locks, seats (leather), with the Bose sound sytem. There's no rust or dents, only a small amount of paint missing on the front bumper, and the engine seems to run fine. It's got a cool-air intake on it, aand..Yea. He's offering it to us for $5200. I'm going to have my mechanic uncle take a look at it before we make the final purchase, just to make sure it's all good.

I'm pretty excited. I've always been fond of the Grand Prix and the Grand Am, especially around 2000. Right now I've got a 97 Hyundai Accent with a 1.5L 4 cyclinder, and a salvage title. So the GP will be a substantial increase in size and power. Hopefully nothing is wrong with it.

Does it sound like a good buy from what I've said?

Re: Picking up a 2000 GTP

I've been watching eBay for a 03 - 06 GTP or an 05/06 GXP. I've seen a few 00 GTPs equipped like this one and $5000 seems to be the going price.

This one's got 120k miles on it. That's less than my Accent, so I can't be too angry.

It's burgundy with tinted windows. I should be getting it Wednesday. Have to wait for my dad to have day off so he can co-sign. No body trusts and 18 year old.

Re: Picking up a 2000 GTP

I made the down payment/deposit of $100 this morning. We got him down to $5150... Mmhm.

Pictures!

It's got a new supercharger in it, and a new intake manifold gasket, which I hear can be troublesome, so it's good that these are new! Less problems for me.

It's a beauty.

Re: Picking up a 2000 GTP

Looks awesome, dude. Sounds like a very good deal, I hope it meets your expectations. Is that a K&N intake box I see lurking under the hood? Someone may have done some performance mods. You can check High Performance Pontiac magazine for some vendors to help trick your GTP up and make it a real screamer (but I'll be it already moves pretty well!).

Go Cardinals!!

Re: Picking up a 2000 GTP

Body and paint look in real good shape for that price. If its not a different SC and just a replacement, I wonder what was wrong with the old one?
