Question 99 Park Ave rear defrost...

Hello everyone,

The rear defrost doesn't work recently on my PA, so can you give me some ideas on what to check first and so on? I would think the fuse first, but doubt it's that easy. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

P.S. rear grid is fine and seems connected ok.

Re: 99 Park Ave rear defrost...

Typically the rear defogger works via a defogger relay so check that first. Is the defogger indication staying lit? Another component in that circuit is a RF filter module which ties into the grid.

Yes, i'm going to check that tomorrow. Just saw that there was a relay under the backseat, nice place for it. We'll see, hope it is that. Thanks for the response.

Re: 99 Park Ave rear defrost...

Check your wires at the rf filter module. Pretty sure its burnt/contacts broken off. Remove the rf module device and check connections. The wire were melted in mine, I have similar problem in my 1999 PA.

If not, check the element grids on window using an ohmmeter and check for continuity..

Best of luck .....

The module is located behind the head of passenger side behind the driver. The post between the side glass and back glass. Carefully pull out the covering material and you will see the wireing and module in there.

I had similar problem to locate it but its worth the effort.

Re: 99 Park Ave rear defrost...

Hello Rali5255 if you're still around or anyone else that might can help me again. I'm just now getting back to my problem of rear defrost on my 99 Park Avenue. I noticed where rali5255 said to pull down the sail trim behind the driver's side at the back window. Does anyone know how to get this piece down without breaking something? I have the same problem that was posted here ( sorry for taking so long, life is busy ), and I'm looking at it again in my spare time. Thanks for the help. I tried on the other side once and broke one of the bracketts that held it up, and was afraid to go any further. Any help will be appreciated.
