92 3.3 engine swap

I have a 1992 Buick Skylark GS (3.3L engine), does anybody know what can be swapped into it? I'm interested in swapping in the supercharged 3.8L (L67), but I don't know if it will bolt up, what parts would be needed, etc.

If anybody knows about this, or where to find more information it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 92 3.3 engine swap

There are a number of potential engines and transmissions that could possibly fit this car. Just check out all the engine combinations used in this car family up through 1998. This family includes the Pontiac Grand Am, Olds Achieva, and I think the Chevrolet Clebrety. From 94 on, the transmission was a 4 speed vs the 3 speed in the 92. I think the later Grand Am had an optional high output motor available at some point in a GT version or some other package. I saw a new bright red one sitting on a dealer lot one time with all the big oversized hood scoops and all the performance goodies. I think it was either a 1997 or 1998 model. The Quad 4 family of engines can be modified to make some significant power (up to 300 hp or so). I think the 3.1 v6 can be pumped up to 260 or so. The 3.8 may not fit because it has a higher block deck hight. the engine and transmission have to fit between the frame rails. (tight fit) plus have enough room front to back to clear the radiator and steering rack, brake package and and leave clearance for all the other stuff. If you can stuff a huffer 3.8 in the bay between the rails, the hood would need to be modified to clear. The issue then becomes will the transaxle and half shafts hold up?

Just spent the afternoon in a You Pull It wrecking yard looking at these cars to see what it will take to change the top engine and left trans mount. Helps to see these cars in pieces before I start my repairs.
