Exclamation I cannot understand this noise!?

Alright. I purchased a '94 Full Size Eddie Bauer Edit w/ 126.5k. I have checked it thoroughly but i have not found the source for one sound.

When i accelerate, there seems to be a clicking noise comming from the underside of the passenger floor panel. The Ford dealer and my dad said it sounded like an exhaust leak. Checked it and it doesnt seem to be. The seal is actually better than the one on the driver side.

ANYWAY. When in neutral (N), i revved it, and no clicking, when i am driving (D) it clicks when i accelerate to the pitch of the RPM. Only when there is a load behind it.

Any suggestions as to what this might be?

Re: I cannot understand this noise!?

check the EGR and AIR tubes - the load on the engine will change the sound out of them when they leak and both are known for breaking

Check for a broken heat shield for the converter.

Disconnect the electrical connector going to the driver's seat for a try.

I'd suggest the 4x4 lugs on that side. The Hub Centers can grind on the front shaft. Do you have manual 4x4 and leave them ON?

Re: I cannot understand this noise!?

Also the hub cover could me lose or have a rock in it.... mine sheared of all but one of the screws on it and made a terrible noise!
