Modern Hemis
What's a good source for a good, high performance Mopar engine, Hemi or otherwise, actually? I know the 300C kit has a V8 in it, but I'm not sure if it's any good as a miniature, or if it's even depicting a high performance engine (or do the motors all look so similar from the outside that it would be ok?). I'd like to find a modern drivetrain for a protouring Dart that will run along with a modernized 68 Camaro, for a sort of fraternal twin build.
Thanks!

The 300C is the only kit with a Hemi so far, but the upcoming Revell Magnum, Charger and 300C SRT8 kits will have the 6.1. Testors is rumored to be doing Chargers, so those will have the 5.7 (but I'm not holding my breath for them). Then there are the Viper v10s..I've got a couple of those (one AMT, one Revell) to use in a ProTouring style Challenger and Cuda... |

Re: Modern Hemis
There is no good, properly detailed modern Hemi out yet. The AMT 300C engine is quite flawed (the heads especially) but it's covered by a plastic deal that hides most of the offensively stupidly wrong details.
Revell has a Magnum SRT-8 coming soon (and also supposedly Charger and 300C SRT-8's as well if you can believe a list that was leaked out about a month ago), that would be the best modern hi-po Hemi you can get.

![]() I have seen their Magnum Diescast in the LARGE series, and that is an engine insert like a lot of JADA and Maisto diecast. The Plastic Magnum is due out soon: ![]() Since this is an SRT-8 (that is the 6.1 Liter Hemi), I'm hoping this engine is full and will be replicated in the CHarger and 300C, which are supposedly converted over as plastic from the LARGE diecast series. Tom Carter, from Hobby Heaven, confirmed the Revell list. If I can work it, I'll be at the iHobby Expo (RCHTA) show on Sunday and see what I take photos of. As mentioned above though, the AMT 5.7 liter is atrocious as an engine. When covered with the shroud and buried in the engine bay of the 300C, most of the bad parts are not visibile. But don't think about using that AMT engine in anything where it would be highly visible. It even looks like the block and transmission of the 300C was adapted or moved over to the AMT Escalade XLT as they look very similar (I have'nt done a detailed evaluation yet). |

Re: Modern Hemis
I'm a little disappointed that I'll have to wait, indefinately, for them. But alas, I am a modeler, I am used to it, and will survive.

I'm very, very disappointed that Revell's 300C is going to be the blingy version. My hopes for a replica SRT-8 Touring by combining w/the Magnum are evaporating rapidly
