I have just (some days back) finished this Skyline, it gave me some setbacks and problems.

It all started with a ratlecan that did spit, no I did not pre-heat it. So i had to strip it with DOT, that again did make the plastic go soft. Actually left head lights did break off, glued back on. Also the top of the back window list did break off, also glued back.

The second time I did paint it, it did spit again. This time said to myself, just finish it!

It is mostly buildt right out the box, with some minor changes. Like M3 look on the mirrors.

Here goes nothing, my second completed car, first ever paintjob.

Pretty rough texture to the finish. Try smoothing the paint with 1500-2000 grit sandpaper and then compound afterwards. What brand of spray paint did you use, btw? Painting with a spray can is very tricky because it's not consistent and every attempt is somewhat different than the last so basically you have to practise and find out what works well for you. I give you credit for not giving up on this build because I probably would have thrown the model against the wall or something .

As for stripping paint, I like to use 'Easy Off'. It's made for cleaning ovens and it's very toxic(burns when inhaled or on bare skin) but works very, very well for most kinds of paint and doesn't harm plastic. I'm sure you can find something equivalent to it in Norway.

I noticed your paint job had a considerable amount of orange peel. My last build's (2nd model ever) paint job came out similarly, for the next project. Paint it the same way, but keep it in a dust free enviroment while it drys (plastic container), then sand it down with progressively finner grades of sandpaper or sanding film. Then rub it with compound and then wax it and you'll get the paint jobs everyone on here has. (which i might add, i have yet to attain.) I like the CF decal on the wing.

What type of spray can are you using?and did you prime the model before you added your colour.

Try Tamiyas sprays and spend a long time painting it in stages.start off with a few mist sprays and build the colour up.it looks like you have gone to heavy with the can and just wanted to finish the model,take your time and the results will be worth it.

Looks good for a first paintjob. And good that you didn't give up, just finishing it will allow you to move on to a new project. And new projects mean practice, and you'll only get better. And if this is where you're coming from, I can't wait to see you progress! I wouldn't worry about polishing the paint yet, even. Just try some finer sprays (like Tamiya, if that's not what you're using now) until you get the hang of it. Also, it's always good to practice on things that aren't your kits; anything plastic you're about to throw away. I think a key for painting models is that you need to move the can faster across the surface of the model, and hold it just a little closer to the model, than you might expect. Tamiya's Japanese website has a good video, if you can navigate well enough to find it.

Thanks guys, the spray can is of the cheap kind. We got this "auto equipment" mall, they got all you can think for your car, workshop and home. Called Biltema / Cartheme. Very cheap.

Next time I gone transfer it from the can to my Airbrush.
Yes I did use primer of the same brand, but i did not bother to sand it. It is like some of you said, just happy to finish it.

And i will keep posting my cars.
