I have a 2001 Silveardo 2500 HD 6.0 liter, a year after I bought it I put on a flowmaster kit.. ( 2 years old Rusted out junk) Well now it's time for a new exhaust system... I want to have an estimate for a V Force dual in and Dual out muffler with dual tail pipes... I'm not sure that the muffler shop is going to use the 3" pipe that comes out of the convertor... Is 2 1/2 or 2 3/4 good enough???
I want good sound but I don't want too much Back pressure..... |

Re: 2001 Silverado 2500 HD Exhaust
I have done some research on this before replacing my rotten flowmaster. I got several opinions from saying 2" is plenty big enough. I personally do not like the sound of 2" pipes. However, the Corsa stainless steel system I bought is a straight threw design from a high end company and it is 2 3/4" I believe with 4" tips. I enjoy the sound of the 2 3/4" piping. So to answer your question, you don't have to go with anything huge unless you have a diesel and you don't, so the 2 1/2 or 2 3/4 should be just fine.

Re: 2001 Silverado 2500 HD Exhaust
Go for a 3 stainless steel pipe system and install 2 bottle type mufflers with a bottle type resonator about 2 feet from the outlets. Will sound great, be reasonable priced and outlast any oval type muffler.
