Re: Grand Am Insurance

Oh man, I wish I was 16 years old again, my friend... But, I am far from that; I am 51.
I drive a 2000 GT1 here in Massachusetts, and I do not have any tickets or moving violations at all in my life. I pay $855.00 a year. I have pretty decent coverages; not the best... but adequate though.

A 16 year old inexperienced operator here would easily pay over $1500.00; easily too. Of course, it varies state to state. This state is screwey because there is no competition amongst insurance companies. A lone insurance commisioner sets the rates; quite the ole' rip-off...

Re: Grand Am Insurance

GA are one of the top cars on saftey features.
So they do run cheaper then say a Trans AM !

The only real way to get a quote is to start calling around to your local insurance places.

I hav great insurance ! I pay $100 month on two GA's, thats full coverage, free glass, $100 deductable. I've had several tickets too and a few fender benders

But I'm 37 today ! and I hav several cars under my policy.

Good Luck, its not cheap starting out.

Re: Grand Am Insurance

Ohhhh man. I don't think that you'll like the number.
I bought my Grand Am SE when I turned 18, now 20, and insurance since has cost me around $550 every three months (). My GASE has the 6 cylinder in it, oh and its also the 2 door. My insurance company told me that if I got the GT it would almost double. It is the cheapest insurance I can find in my area (Bay City).
I have full coverage ($100 deductible on collision, $150 for other, free glass) for my insurance. I have had one ticket that happened when I was 17 so it's off my driving record but still on my insurance. The ticket did not effect my insurance but one more and it will double. Needless to say I drive like a grandma...for one more year...haha.

Let me know if this helps you man...

Re: Grand Am Insurance

When I bought my G/a GT I was about 20 yrs old, the insurance was supposed to be 1400 for the year. when i got my bill the insurance doubled to 3000 for the year then gradually went up until i maxed out at 5000 for a year, When i hit 25, the insurance was down to 1300 for a year, but that was with no coverage except the min. insurance. With my g6 full coverage i pay only 1300 for the year. So prepare for the worst! I have state farm, and they were the cheapest despite the amounts i was paying! ( this is also in NJ, we get killed out here for insurance, you sneeze wrong they'll raise your rates)

Re: Grand Am Insurance

I think my parents say I pay 80-100 bucks a month for my insurance on my 99 grand am SE... but I have -4 points on my license because of defensive driving during drivers ed and no tickets so far, so I'm pretty set to go (and I'm 3 months away from 21). If I got, say, an EAGLE TALON TSI, I would only be paying $123 a month... that's still awesome. I forget what my insurance is though LOL

Re: Grand Am Insurance

For a 22 year old. The average price in Ca, seems to be around 520-620 for 6 months with 1 accident. At least thats the prices i got. Jut make sure to call many companys for an insurance quote tell them if they can match the best price you've gotten so far and most of the time they will match or beat the previous price. Good luck.
