Re: hub adapters

most companies sell a diff adapter that includes the quick release for certain cars.. no idea is honda is on the list tho, I usually just have someone make them for me for racecars..

What grant do you have? wanna sell it with the hub?

Re: hub adapters

Lol I only want it if I like it... and there aren't many grant wheels I like, so you'll pry get it if he wants to sell it.. I just have a 88 4dr steering wheel in my 85 CRX... and it's a lil further forward than I would like it, closer to my chest.. looks good, but yeah.. I just dun wanna mess with it to get it to be where I want it.

Re: hub adapters

What all do you have done to your 85? I got an 86 thats caged and about to get a z6 with a 4th gen DX 5 spd planted in it.

I just really need another hub, stole the one off my hatchback to put on my 93 civic race car because I didn't want to race with a stock wheel, too used to using Grants in Hondas.

Re: hub adapters

it's basically stock, stock rebuilt engine, stock tranny, stage one clutch, stock (brand new) interior, no stereo or speakers, full urethane bushing kit.. and my special (Jay Dee Em ) Titanium shift knob... I"m just tryna keep it mostly stock.. it's an old ass car lol it's lowered 2 inches in the front tho.. got it that way.. I think the guy changed the angle of the part on the suspension that goes on the torsion bar and connects to the hub/lower control arm

(can't think of the name, it's 530 am here.. )

IF I mod it at all, it's getting a turbo 86 teg motor with 4 carbs.. since I don't feel like changing half the car to make it FI... I"m just gonna set up ITB's with carbs from older honda bikes, and call it good lol

IF I do that, I"m lookin for somewhere close to 200 hp @ 6-8psi with all stock internals since I don't plan on racing the car, just making something more fun to drive. Although, for having 78 HP, I must admit, I"m impressed with the pickup the car has, and how snappy it can be off corners with the right driver.

the urethane kit and new suspension really helped tho, it doesn't roll at all around corners now.

Also looking at test fitting a set of coilover struts from an 88 CRX, since the upper pillow mounts are the same PN, I'll let you know how that works out.

Re: hub adapters

Can you get any pictures? If I get the money I'm supposed to get Ill probably end up getting it.

Sorry for thread jacking, you just don't hear much on these old CRX's.

Drop: Yea they probably lowered it by modifying the stock torsion bars. I haven't done it yet, but plan on messing with it for the track. I thought about the coilover idea as well, so let me know how it works. Mine is an Si, so its already FI. I would just leave it with the motor thats in it, which is what I'm supposed to do for the track, but I don't want to get out there and that motor not be enough, so I'm just gonna skip the testing and say its not enough and throw the Z6 in there and say thats "Stock" for that car since no one knows Hondas at the track. I think with a Z6 bored out and head shaved will do exactly what I want on a 1/2 dirt track. Gotta show everyone its not about the V6 Taurus SHO's, or turbo'd cars out there, no one has faith in NA 4 cylinders anymore.

Re: hub adapters

ah jeez, ya know, it seems to me that you could pass your car off for a '87, which I believe came with an FI D series... meaning that you could "adapt" something else, and call it a "swap" of the same or higher generation.. ya know.. it's legal, just don't get caught, kinda thing... b/c the track down in Beaver Springs PA thought I could seriously order a Dodge Ram with a V10 Viper engine, trans, and suspension too... so yeah.. do what ya gotta to win :P

It's called cheating legally.

oh, and you can have the wheel, i"m makin a QR hub for my street wheel from my 1986 Cavalier (cut the top off it.. so it just has handles... it's a "butterfly" wheel, with the bottom still attached) when I get around to it, I'm gonna cut the middle out of another CRX wheel, and just bolt my cavvy wheel to it.

Re: hub adapters

Well, I think I'm gonna go ahead and pass too, forgot I wanna put QD's on the race cars as well so that will free up my steering hub hopefully.

You always gotta read the rules to your advantage......along with the guys who do the inspecting, lol. Wonderful thing about it being an older car, I don't think anyone at the track will find anything on it because they don't know where to look.

Do you get on www.redpepperracing.com?
