2001 Sport 4wd Switch Issues
The 4WD switch used to work fine, but starting last year the switch only engages the 4WD when it feels like it. This occurs with low and high 4. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
The other day a new occurance happened when I tried to engage 4H, the RPM and speedometer both jumped very high. I disengage and everything returned to normal. I tried the 4H later and it engaged after a few minutes. When I flip the switch on I can hear a clicking coming from the front passenger area and the latest development is that the clicking keeps happening for quite some time after the switch is set back to 2wd. One person told me that some Ford's have an issue with electronics in the switch...also heard it is possibley the transfer case.. Help! Winter is coming! |

Re: 2001 Sport 4wd Switch Issues
There is a sensor for the four wheel drive that goes out every so often i believe it is connected to the transmission or around that area that reads when you switch it to 4 wheel drive or not, have that checked and it should resolve your problems
