trying to start resto.

Well finally getting some money to get the ball rolling and i was wondering what all i would have to take out to put brand new undercoating on the 89? like rearend tranny, possible gas tank because it doesnt look so great. and i am useing this excuse to take up the garage to pull the maro apart. and completly rebuild it.rebiuld the motor and rearend with 3.90 gears put rear discs on and a 1le front dics package brand new bushings and spray everything under the car so then all i have to do is get it painted. i plan on just getting a driveable chassis. no fenders or interior, paint the engine compartment black myself then reinstall motor, no glass, except windshield, all the rocker extension off and front and rear bumper assembly and covers off. anyone think that is a good way to start or have any suggestions or comments?

You're kidding right? Instead of sticking your head under the car?

Alright, alright, in all seriousness here. You pretty much nailed it, tranny, shaft, rear end, tank, e-brake, fuel/brake lines, any heat sheilds, and tuck up any wiring harnesses. I would recommend using some type of media blast to get everything off first, which if your doing on the garage floor is going to be a messy pain in the arse. If it's in not too bad of shape, you might get by with a good power washing and some POR-15 (definatley on the rear axle atleast)

well figured but most all that but i wasnt sure about the fuel and brake lines mine look like rusted on the outside and didnt know what to do. like get new one or any way to clean up. and a little tired so the post didnt come out right. and what wiring harness ?never seen any under mine. what other ways are there then media blast? like some sort of sander?

This is the opportune time you want to replace those lines. The point of media blasting is so you don't have to sit there for days and getting a stiff neck with a sande and die grinder/dremmel to get in the tight areas.

OH, and new lines are going to cost you, this is the time you will learn to start making your own, you can get even pre-flared oned and just bend them for a 10th of the price.

Well there is a guy in town that has a sandblasting shop but i dont know how much it would cost? I am kind of on a tight budget to. but i am going to try to get new lines and other stuff like rearend kit with 3.90 gears and SSBC rear disc brake kit. I definatly need new bushings for the swaybars and other cpmponets but that might have to wait till its painted . I also looked into POR-15 and they have a floor pan restore kit. i think that is the way to go but i also should get some sfc's first since they need to be welded.

Btw i had a terrible morning Wedneday. i couldnt remember shit. i'm a lttle better today.
