Adjusting Brightness of Dash Lights

I have a 2003 Civic EX. No matter how often or how dim I set the dash lights for both daytime operation and headlights on operation, the car seems to "forget" the setting once it sits over night. It will retain the setting if I turn it off for a little while and then start it up again, but every morning when I start it up, the dash lights come back on at full intensity despite where I left them the night before. Does anyone know whether this is a problem with my particular car or just a design flaw on the 2003s?

I do not personally know about the 01-03's, but my '05 has never had a problem like that.

Like you mentioned though, may be a design flaw or malfunction in the electrical path or something.
