Speed on my old Camry

My father tells me that I am driving my car too fast. I have a 200 mile a day commute on open highway. I average 70-75 mph. Sometimes a little higher when I am running late My 97 4cyl has about 140,000 on it. How hard is this on my car? Is 75mph too fast?

Thanks for the advice.

Re: Speed on my old Camry

Not at all. I have a 94 with 160K and an 87 with 240k miles. They are regularly driven at 70-75. Just change the oil and filter regularly. I do agree though that much higher than that might be pushing it. I wouldn't be surprised if somebody says 90-100 is ok (if you have a death wish). I would just leave 5 minutes earlier or change jobs. Obey the speed limit...
