Re: 420a

Knowing from experience, yeah, most likely. When my timing belt broke, it bent the intake valves and cracked a valve guide. Luckily it didn't mess the head up.

Re: 420a

There are motors that don't die because of a broken timing belt. An MR2 has an engine that is one of them. There are more engines out there than 4G63's and 420a's He used the context correctly.

Re: 420a

Yes it's an interference engine (meaning that the valves and pistons overlap, but not at the same time) and if you skip too many teeth or break the timing belt, your valves will go bendy bendy. Just ask myself or Thor about how bending valves goes. If you've bent some valves, but not badly, you can just have them replaced without needing new guides or anything, but if you bent them very badly, you'll need new guides too. But in any case, you will not need a whole new/different head (although sometimes its cheaper).

And next time please use proper grammer.

Re: 420a

Yeah, bending valves is fun! Almost as fun as throwing bearings. Fuck drugs, I can break engine parts! Ha ha...

Yeah, I heard that the MR2 wont bend valves if the t belt skips/snaps but I never knew why. Learned something today other than what DNA is made of .

How many miles did you have when yours broke?

Re: 420a

My belt decided to fail and my pistons knocked the valves off the head and imbedded them through the top of the piston.

Gotta love it when that happens. I'm surprised that never happened to me, or hasn't yet (knocks on wood)
