'88 Porsche Turbo
Replica of a friend's car. Pretty much out-of-the-box except for the wheels and the removal of the molded in Euro style front license plate holder. Was a bit of a challenge to paint all that black trim on a pure white body, no room for error. Paint is TS-26... - Mark

Re: '88 Porsche Turbo
I miss the black trims around the taillights, but other than that I think it's a very nice car!

Re: '88 Porsche Turbo
Damn! I was so intent on the other body trim I missed the taillight trim. Guess I'll go back and do it.
No masking, brush paint... - Mark |

Re: '88 Porsche Turbo
Great Build, and super clean as usual. How come you handed painted the trim? I thought you would have got a better result with your airbrush, or was it too much hassle to mask everything?

Re: '88 Porsche Turbo
Great car in a great color.
This is also the cleanest hand-painted trim job on a Porsche that I've seen. I have done about 10 Porsche 911's from the eighties and tried all kinds of techniques to get a clean trim. I also found out that handpainting is the easiest but never achieved your level. |

Re: '88 Porsche Turbo
Big time hassle to mask. The paint is lacquer so it would chip or peel if I masked and cut. Plus it seemed to be prone to scuffing and marring even though it was cured for weeks, and I didn't want to polish through it buffing off any tape adhesive residue. The molding is not real crisp around the side windows, and masking the bumper areas are another problem. Paint seepage to some degree was inevitable. I would have easily spent as much, if not more, time masking as I did painting, but this way I didn't have to clean up afterwards. I normally mask and airbrush, but this was a unique situation... - Mark

Re: '88 Porsche Turbo
Great color choice and great rim choice. Are those from another kit or After market?
Looks great! |

Re: '88 Porsche Turbo
The rims are from a Tamiya 911 GT2. And I am glad I didn't have to use the Fuchs and paint them by hand too... - Mark
