Suspension Swap

First and foremost i would like to say how much i enjoy this fourm. Haven't been signed up for more then 10 mins, but i am HIGHLY impressed with the knownledge in here. But enough of my babbling and wasting your time.

In my possesion i have two vechiles. A 1983 Reg cab short box GMC half ton, a complete farm truck. It has grain in the cab, been backed into by combines, grains trucks, etc

The second truck is an 1980 Crew cab long box....3/4 ton i beleive. Not the 3/4 ton isn't accutly mine, its a buddies. He bought it just for the diffs in it, and told me i could have every thing else. Hes also taking the engine out of it, and some other minor things, mostly drive train things. So i pretty much have just the body and frame.

Well my question is concerning the suspension. Now my half ton needs alittle bit of work, but i am prepared to do it. I am curious if any one in here can tell me if i can swap the suspensions in them. In shot, beefering up my suspension in my half ton. Now i have looked at them, gotten underneath, and to be honest i don't know the first thing bout the suspension of the vechiles... Drivetrains, engines and such i very good with, but suspensions...won't even say i know the first thing. They are both 4x4 as well

So if some one could give me an idea of how hard it would be, time, fabbing, etc

Being different years i think might throw a kink into my plans.

Also lookin for any down sides this may cause, etc

Once again,

Thank you for your time

Scott
