Hello everyone. I have a question for you all. I recently bought a used impala and was wondering if anyone knew of a website or a visual inspection procedure to verify if I have remote keyless entry. (I have the codes from the trunk sticker.)
The reason I am wondering is because in my radio's menu I have adjustments for the FOB, although a transmitter didnt come with the car. Apparently (from the owners manual) if you have the settings you most likely have the system. For instance, It does not have settings for security in the radio as it didnt come with the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Im betting that the car came with remote entry but somewhere the transmitter was lost. I have priced a few but want to make sure that I get one that will work. I tried to program my friends transmitter via the owners manual but it wouldnt give me the "chirp" to verify the sync. But when I did the same thing in his car it re-synced just fine (he had to replace the battery). Would you think that I would need a specific transmitter? If so where is the module located under the dash to get spec numbers? Again, thanks for all your help! surr |

Re: Keyless entry info?
Rich,
I tried using my friends remote but it would not program so I took my VIN to a local dealer and they verified that the car came with Keyless Entry. The shop gave me a part number for the transmitter. Turns out my friends is a different one all together. Im now looking for a decent priced one on both ebay and gmpartsdirect.com. Consider this thread sovled... although I will update it when I get a transmitter. |

Re: Keyless entry info?
I mis-typed that, and it should be AU0 (#0), not AUO (letter-O) (the letter O is just under the number 0 on the keyboard, go figure).
