I just recently bought a used 1995 cougar XR-7. It came with a ford head unit (tape player & am/fm radio) and a ford 10 disc cd changer. I believe these are stock but not positive.I am trying to replace the head unit with a pioneer head unit. I used a scosche easy install harness, but when I powered it up there was NO SOUND
!!! By "no sound" I mean none, no static, nada.So I'm thinking maybe a factory amplifier is hiding somewhere or the cd changer is somehow complicating the matter. I've installed a couple other cd players(in a caddy and a firebird) before along with amps and subs and never ran into this problem. At this point though I'm just worried about getting my new cd player working, WITH SOUND. It turns on, spins the cd, and appears to be functioning correctly, minus that there is no sound. Before trying to install the pioneer the factory deck and changer were working fine. I would greatly appreciate help with this if anyone knows what's going on. |

Re: 1995 cougar stereo installation Help!
If you have the JBL sound system, there's a factory amp on a shelf inside the trunk. You'll need to bypass the wiring around it.

Also removed the cd changer to see if it is a JBL. It says ford on the top but on the bottom says Sony. Last edited by Badasskittykitty; 11-03-2006 at 04:01 PM. |
