Honda Jazz lockdown security practical joke!
Not sure if I'm posting in the right place being new to these forums but can anyone tell me is there a trick to avoid being caught out the way my sister was when she dumped her keys/handbag/including front door key into her Honda Jazz and then got out to scrape some ice off the windows (first frost of the autumn in Hertfordshire!)
You've guessed it, the timed lockdown that happens if you don't put the keys in the ignition within 30 seconds locked her out! Whoever designed that joke should be made to be a victim of it as a practical joke. It may be secure but the AA had to come out and break into the car using a metal strip hook dongle, and the window rubber had to be removed. Why can't this feature be disabled as it does seem to be only of nuisance value. I can think of situations where it would be positively dangerous such as if a fire started and the car locked itself before the owner could remove the dog etc etc. Does anyone know a good trick to get around this automatic wrong-footing by technology ? -- Plado |

My alarm system does that too. Just leave the door open.

I still maintain that the facility is poorly designed and improperly thought through. It's not a security feature worth bothering with it's just an ownership nuisance. |
