Hello,
First I want to say thanks to this forum for helping me out in the past. My daughters 99 Grand Am reciently had intermittent dash warning lights coming on (Brake, Battery...). After searching thru posts here I diagonsed (only 12 V w/engine running) and replaced the alternator and battery. She bought the car used and as it had a Delco battery that had no stickers indicatating a replacement date, I figured I might as well replace the battery too incase it was the original. All was fine for about a week. Then the Service Engine Soon light came on with a P0440 code that seemed to be caused by a loose gas cap. Another week passes with no issues and today she said the dash lights were acting up again. I checked the battery voltage and it seemed OK ( aprox. 12.5 w/ engine off and 14.5 w/engine on). Any thoughts? THX in advance, Mark

Re: 99 GA Electrical problem
Just a guess, but check the connections to the alternator and battery, possibly something came loose.

Re: 99 GA Electrical problem
THX for the suggestion. I will re-tighten all connections that were disturbed when I replaced the alternator and battery.

Re: 99 GA Electrical problem
Have you had any other electrical problems other then the lights on the dash? Definetly check your connections make sure they are making proper connection. Another possiblity is your BCM could be malfunctioning or have loose connections. If you still have problems after you tighten the wires under the hood, try to get the computer scanned for any codes, this may help to narrow down the problem.
