Unhappy tranny

on my toyota truck it's a 5 speed and it pops out of first and third and don't know why..but when you put it in first it stay's, once you give it gas it pops right out of gear and the same with 3rd gear.
anyone that can help i would appreciate it...

I have this same problem too. But mine only happens in first gear everyonce in a while. It would be nice if someone could let us know what this is.

i still haven't heard about a tranny exspert's out there that know's about toyota 4x4 toyotas popping out of gear in first and 3rd...airborne man..have you??????

It's a fairly easy fix. If you remove the shifter housing (6 bolts on top of your tranny) you need to replace 2 things:
1. a small nylon cup that pops onto the ball on the tip of your shift lever.

2.a round rubber seat bushing that sits in the top ov the shift housing.

There are several more specific posts regarding this repair so I will leave out the details. Just browse through them and you can find any more info. including part #s that you need. The parts are available aftermarket, but you can get them at the dealer for no more than $30
