carbon fiber decals

I have scale motorsports carbon fiber decal and i carnt understand the instructions.it says to use scotch tape to place it on to the surface?
very confusing .anyone give me some ideas as i dont want to mess it up.

The scotch tape is used as a template.. masking tape can also be used... i recommend masking as it doesnt destroy your paint... basically apply the masking tape on the surface u want to cover with CF then cut out the shape and put it on the CF decal then cut out the shape and remove then apply on the surface... u might want to becareful as the masking might destroy the CF ...
