Airfix rally cars, are they any good?

I was down at my local hobby store and they had in some Airfix rally cars, 1/24 scale WRX and Evo VII and 1/43 Focus and Evo VI.

I had a peak in the Focus box and only thing that concerned me was the tyres were moulded with the wheels in plastic. Everything else including the decals look ok from what I saw.

I was wondering if anyone has built these if so what did they think of them?
Cheers!

I have built/started several Heller (Airfix) 1/43 kits - 206 '00, 206 '99, Scoobie '00, Focus, Evo, and really the worst thing is the wheels and a complete absence of rollcage. The Pug kits are somewhat poorer than the rest (Focus is quite good, actually).

You can see a build up of the 1/43 Xsara and 206 here

This guy has done a good job of making them look amazing, but the kits suck but then it is Airfix.

I have 1/43 Xsara and it's very bad. Kits are like toys.

Martin,

I have built the Airfix Citroen Xsara (see gallery) and I can't say that I was impressed, some parts were rather dodgy, I would only buy another one if they bought out something that I thought no-one else would, I thought about buying the Lancer but was holding on until all my other projects are finished and now, thankfully, Tamiya are releasing one so stuff the Airfix version.

Steve
