00 sierra won't shift to park...HELP??!!

00' GMC Sierra. i pulled up into my driveway. went to put the truck in park and it stopped at reverse and won't go to park unless you play with it for a min or so. Feels like theres no spring tension on the shifter on the shifter colomn. has anyone ever ran in to this problem before?? if so wat was the problem??

You need to look at the entire shift linkage mechanism including possibly in the trans pan.
