Question Installing aftermarket car starter

My wife got a pro start car starter last week ,I thought it would be a simple job since I used to install car audio ..
to my suprise there is a tonn more wiring i need to spice into
i managed getting the brain of the unit under the dash ,now the fun part begins ..Question : How do i remove the silly clips on gm cars that is atttached to the ignition harness ..

should i splice into the wires close to the ignition or trace the wires under the dash and work from there ...

or ...pay someone to have it installed and not risk screwing it up
it is a 4 cyl malibu 4 door 1998 .

The unit is a 3 in 1 with alarm remote start and keyless entry .

if anyone has installed one themselfs i would love some advice .....thanks

steve

Re: Installing aftermarket car starter

I tell you I got Best Buy to install my Viper but to get the guarantee it has to be installed by the store. I don't know if they would install something they don't sell but a phone call would tell you.

Re: Installing aftermarket car starter

Well, seeing that you are already scared and don't know how to take apart the car enough to work on it, I'd have a professional do it. Plus, there's the vehicle's PK2 security system you need to patch into which usually makes DIY'rs screw things up. On your car, you have to get to the ignition wires by taking out the radio.

At my shop I have my guys charge $125 for alarm/remote starters and an additional $50 if the customer already tried installing it.
