Whining Noise...

I am noticing that every time I drive I am hearing a whining noise that gets louder as I turn to my left side and as I speed up also I whenever I make a sharp u-turn I cannot get my speed up as quick as I need to. Can anyone possibly give me some info on what I need to do before I take it to the dealership or can I possibly fix it myself?

Re: Whining Noise...

The whining noise could be your PS pump... I had a similar problem with hard left turns the pump would make a bad noise... Then either hard left or right turns it made a whining noise and progressively got worse over time... I finally had the pump checked and it was bad... Replaced for free under GM Major Guard protection plan...

Welcome to AF. If no change in steering effort is felt, it could also be a hub bearing going bad. Is the ABS or Trac-off lights on?

Good point I forgot to mention... As my PS pump got worse the steering effort went up, especially noticeable at low speeds...
